Hello!

DKfromlinen is a mother-daughter project, coalescing mother Danutė, who sews, and a daughter Rūta, who paints, to interconnect their creativity for making original quality goods from linen, intended for everyday use.

Linen is our favorite material.

Danutė has a long sewing proficiency – she has been designing and tailoring clothing and accessories since her childhood. Sewing is her passion. Her elder daughter Rūta is a young hobbyist artist, a laureate of many local youth arts contests. She considers the art to be a source of her life. DKfromlinen production is born of two‘s, mother‘s and daughter‘s, passion to create and made with sincere love and care.

We both have grown up and are living in Lithuania, a small country near the Baltic sea which is said to have deep traditions of cultivating and using flax. Ancient Lithuanians had always had close relationship with nature, therefore Lithuanians used to have an intimate connection with linen, as a particle of nature. Linen goods used to be an irreplaceable part of daily life of ancient Lithuanians. Although much of the time has passed, because of its naturalness, we still sense the linen fabric as especially akin, homey for human being and find it most pleasant of all the materials. That‘s why we choose linen as the main fabric to work with. 

However, our linen goods are based not only on traditional, basic natural looks, but on experimenting with daring brushes of paints as well. We pursue to create unique, original items which could be called the quiet pieces of art, would have no identical equivalent and would disseminate simple aesthetics, while at the same time they would also match for everyday use.
